Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'm proud to be taking part in this year?s Walk, MY 9TH WALK, to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
My story is simple, but it's not really my story. It belongs to my niece Alawna who was diagnosed 6 months before her third birthday in 2003. She has been struggling with TD1 for nearly 10 years. This means constant finger pricks, glucose monitoring, diet control and sometimes even a very scarey low which can cause seizures. TD1 has been a challenge for Alawna and all of her caregivers, but there is new hope! Alawna will soon have an insulin pump, an insulin management system. This means no more finger pricks, which has caused callouses, no more schedules, a free rein on food, less worry and stress, a healthier life and the closest thing to a healthy pancreas.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
