Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'll be taking part in this year’s Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Today, 9/9/13, is the 10 year anniversary of Madison's type 1 diabetes diagnosis. This day is one I will never forget. It was full of sadness, guilt, a lot of unanswered questions, and many MANY prayers. I know that prayer is the reason Madison made it through a diabetic ketoacidosis coma that doctors told me should would not recover from. Today, she is 11 years old and just started the 6th grade. As she started this school year in a new school, she was extremely nervous for the usual reasons....learning a new schedule, finding time to go to her locker, who would have she same lunch as she does, and would any of her friends be in her classes. Madison (and I) also had added worries. I had to "train" a new school nurse, 6 classroom teachers, administrators and a bus driver on type 1 diabetes care. This was no easy feat. We are thankful that everyone involved is clear on what to do in an emergency situation and they are all taking an active role.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support,
Bambi & Madison Harlin
