Dear Friends --
Please help us!
We will be walking in our fourth JDRF Walk on Saturday October 26, 2013 at 8am and we pray that you will give generously to the Hlavinka-McIntyre Team!
As most of you know, our eleven year old son, Walter, was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes Christmas-Time 2009.
Type I Diabetes is an auto-immune disorder in which the immune system, for reasons unknown, attacks the pancreas and destroys its ability to create insulin. It is a horrible disease with potentially horrific long term complications.
Pricks, calculations, insulin shots, fear, restriction, discrimination, dependence, worry (not necessarily in that order).
Such is life with Type 1 Diabetes ... we do our best and hope for the best but nothing -- not even waking up in the morning -- is guaranteed.
Walter will not grow out of this disease. All of the exercise, oatmeal, green salad, and grilled chicken in the world will not make the Type I Diabetes go away. The only way out is a cure.
We are very proud of Walter's amazing courage but mostly we desperately want to eradicate this disease. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation offers the best prospects for making this happen.
Please give generously to our team.
