Hi, I'm Riley, and I am 13 years old, and was diagnosed with Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, when I was 8. Since being diagnosed my life has changed a lot. I had to start checking my blood sugar 8-12 times a day and get at least 4 shots of insulin every day. Now I wear an insulin pump that gives me all the insulin I need throughout the day. I will have Type 1 Diabetes for the rest of my life unless the scientists find a cure. My doctor told us that he believes that a cure for my disease will be found in my lifetime! That's why my family and I work so hard each year to try and raise money to help the scientists find this cure.
We work with JDRF because we believe that they are our best hope for finding a cure. They fund more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and they're making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. About 80 cents of each dollar go directly toward this research.
We would love to have you on our Walk team this year. You can also donate to our team and help us reach our goal.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Thank you :)
