As you may know, Bradley has been battling Type 1 Diabetes for almost 4 years now. Since that time, he has received almost 6,000 shots of insulin and pricked his finger almost 10,000 times.
Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune disease that attacks the pancreas. Eventually, the pancreas stops producing insulin. Insulin injections are then needed to survive. Type 1 diabetics face daily challenges just to live. Through no fault of his own, Bradley faces this challenge every minute of every day and will do so for the rest of his life unless a cure is found.
When we started this process, I felt a little uneasy about asking my friends and family for donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. That is, until one day another parent of a Type 1 diabetic child said to me that I should NEVER have to apologize for trying to find a cure for my child.
So here we are again, preparing for the Walk to Cure diabetes on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Sea World of Texas. There are 2 ways you can help:
1. You can join our Family Team, The Shermanators, which consists of family and friends who donate, collect pledges and/or walk with us.
2. You can make an online donation and forward this email to others in your circle of family and friends to donate as well.
We do not mind at all if you share Bradley's story with others. We have a website and an online video that can easily be forwarded to your contacts or posted on your Facebook page.
Please consider making a donation to the JDRF for this worthy cause. Every dollar counts. In total, our team has raised almost $10,000 towards the fight for a cure!
Together, we can make finding a cure a reality for Bradley and the thousands of other people this terrible disease affects.
