Welcome to Cambridge's Team Page!
As many of you already know and some may not, Cambridge was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at 20 months old. Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever.
Now luckly Cambridge was diagnosed at such a young age, so he won't remember too much of his life without T1D. Although, he is just three years old now, I know he still remembers when he didn't have to be poked at prawed at every single day. Imagine trying to provide a shot to your child, in which they direly need, as they cry and screm telling you to stop. This is what I go through day in and day out with a T1D child.
I know that sooner rather than later we will find a cure for T1D. I cannot wait for that day when I can look into Cambridge's eyes and tell him the unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections are over. This is why we are taking steps to help JDRF progressively remove the impact of type 1 diabetes (T1D) from people's lives until no one has to fear developing this disease. By joining our Walk to Cure Diabetes team and making a donation to JDRF, you'll raise money to help fund critical T1D research and create a world without T1D.
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you. I truely hope that you accept the challenge to make a difference by walking with us. Just click on the "Join this Team" button, make a donation, and start fundraising.
Cambridge and I both thank you for your support, and we'll see you on Walk day!
