November 6, 2008 and January 14, 2012 are dates that I will never forget as both my children were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Not completely shocking since my husband is also a Type 1 Diabetic. He was diagnosed in 1979, when there wasn't public awareness, camps, retreats and walks for families to meet and share stories.
Times have changed since then and I am very thankful for Don's knowledge and support. Managing two diabetics can be stressful. Everything takes longer- meals, trips and shopping at Costco!
As Mrs. Spokane I hope to educate people on the differences between Type 1 and Type 2. So much of the information that is available is for Type 2, which is totally different and can be reversed.
Please join me in raising money to find a cure so that my kids and husband do have to poke themselves 8 times a day and measure carbs on everything they eat. One day they will be able to enjoy a meal without a shot- I know we can find a cure, we invented Facebook and the iPhone!
Cheers to a Cure!
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
