Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I’m writing to ask for your support for a very special goal—to improve the lives of every person affected by
type 1 diabetes (T1D), just like our very own Nina.
I just registered for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes and accepted the challenge to raise money for JDRF, the largest nongovernmental funder of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The Walk raises funds, awareness, and hope for the millions of people living with and affected by T1D, a serious autoimmune disease.
As most of you know, our sweet Nina was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on July 3rd. Which just also happens to be the day after her baby brothers 1st birthday. It’s a day we will never forget!
There are 2 different types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 2 can be managed and even cured with diet and exercise.
Type 1 people aren’t as lucky. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease where the bodys immune system attacks the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. So basically her body declared war on itself and started to shut down. Really scary!
26 million Americans have diabetes and only 3 million have Type 1. 85% of people living with T1D are adults and 15% are children!
With that being said, I’m asking for you to donate what you can to help find a cure and raise awareness of this disease.
This years walk takes place September 22, 2013. You can come join us or donate or both! Whatever you’re able to do will help not only Nina but every other person out there affected by this serious disease.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $1,000.00 by visiting my personal fundraising page and making an online donation. Donating is quick, easy and secure! However, if you prefer, you can mail your contribution to the address listed below. Make your gift payable to JDRF, and please put my name in the memo field.
