About Our Walk

JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is Making Footprints Around the Nation!

Check-In Information:
When you arrive, head to the check-in area to turn in your Walker Collection Envelope.  While additional envelopes will be available at check-in, please print and complete the Walker Donation Information Form and include it in your envelope. The Walker Donation Information Form is essential to confirm all your offline donations.  The Walker Collection Envelope should also be completed with:

• Your Team Name and Team Captain's name
• Amount in envelope

Please remember, each walker should turn in their own envelope.  Walkers are asked NOT to combine funds into one envelope.

• If you have not registered online, please complete your contact information.  Keep in mind, home address is preferred in order to expedite the delivery of JDRF post-Walk information and prizes.

Also, don’t forget:

• Checks should be made payable to JDRF
• If you have a large amount of cash or coins to turn in on Walk Day, we ask that you convert it to a personal check.  
• Be sure to also complete the Walker Donation Information Form to ensure that you and your team participants get proper credit for your donations!
• If you raise $100, you will receive a JDRF Walk T-shirt.
• If you have raised over $100 online and do not have any additional cash or checks to turn in then please go DIRECTLY to the T-shirt Pick Up to redeem your Walk Day T-Shirt. You do not need to check in at registration.
  

Walk Day Schedule

8:30 - 9:45 a.m. - Check in, money drop off, registration, kids activities, music and more!

9:15 - 9:45 a.m. - T-shirt contest on the WIXX stage with Otis Day

9:45 - 10:00 a.m. - Opening ceremonies and welcome

10:00 a.m. - Walk begins

Walk Location & Parking

JDRF Volunteers will be directing cars where to park. Please be patient and courteous on Walk Day!

Food, Fun and Entertainment

We’ll have music, kids’ activities, special guests and plenty of family fun including: Face painting, temporary tattoos, Bungee Jump, Obstacle Course, and appearances by Fang from the T-Ratts, Jeremiah from the Green Bay Bullfrogs, and some of your favorite Super Heroes.

Refreshments will be available from local vendors at the Walk.  These will include: Subs from Cousins, chips, coffee from Starbucks, some gluten free options from Happy Bellies, bananas, muffins and more.  Estimated carbs for each item will be available at the Walk.  There are also water breaks and first aid stations throughout the Walk route. Juice and glucose tabs are available upon request. 

Team Photos: Students from Northeast WI Technical College will be taking team photos. Look for the sign when you arrive . 

Family Team Reminder:  Family Teams are invited to stop in and meet JDRF volunteers, other families impacted by type 1, exhibitors and pharmaceutical vendors including Roche, Walgreens, Sanofi, Novo Nordisk, Medtronic, JDRF Outreach, Ride to Cure Diabetes, and Government Relations.

Team T-Shirt Design Contest: Report at 9:15 to the WIXX stage to be a part of the contest. The top three will be given a trophy before the walk begins.

Important Fundraising Details

Awards and Prizes:  The deadline for turning in Walk money to JDRF for award and pledge prize eligibility is June 10, 2013.  Walker Collection Envelopes to send in with post-Walk funds will be available at the check-in area.

Donor Receipts:  Donors who have written a check to JDRF for $250+ will receive a letter of receipt from JDRF.  
 

Fundraising Rewards/Prizes:  Prize catalogs are mailed to eligible participants approximately 10 weeks after the Walk. In order to receive a catalog, you must opt in to the fundraising rewards program. If you did not opt in when you registered for the Walk, you may still do so in your Participant Center or on your Walker Collection Envelope. The deadline is four (4) weeks post-Walk. Ordering information will be sent with each gift catalog. Visit the prize website to browse the Prize Catalog options. 

Walk Awards:  Walk fundraising awards will be handed out at the JDRF Walk Awards Celebration in July.  Invitations to the Walk Awards Celebration will be sent to all team captains, all walkers raising $500 or more, volunteers and sponsors.  Individuals or Teams raising $500-$999 will receive a Certificate of Achievement.  Individuals raising over $1,000 will receive a JDRF Golden Sneaker Award.  Teams who raise over $1,000 will receive a Walk Award.  Other fun awards and contests will also be presented!

Remember you can continue fundraising after the Walk.  Funds received up until four weeks post-Walk Day will be credited to your final individual and team totals for prizes and awards.

In addition, for every $250 you raise, you'll be entered into a drawing to win TWO airline tickets from Delta valued at $800 courtesy of Fox World Travel!!! The more you raise the more chances you get. The deadline to turn in funds is June 21 at 5 p.m
