Hello! This year, our family is walking again to raise funds for The JDRF to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. We cannot complete our mission in finding a cure without your help!
My son, Jamison has been a Type 1 diabetic for three years now. Jamison is so brave and positive about his disease, just like thousands of other children and adults who live every day with Type 1 which consumes their daily living function and costs thousands of dollars per year to treat. I am not so brave as I fear my child will not have a life expectancy that exceeds my own.
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. Type 1 is a disease that affects the way your body uses food. Type 1 diabetics no longer produce any natural insulin from their pancreas. As a solution, since there is no cure, Type 1 diabetics must monitor all food they ingest and take man made insulin shots at least 4 times per day as well as test their blood sugar by poking their finger more than 4 times per day. The list is great in the complications which Type 1 patients face and most are life threatening.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more Type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
I never thought I would be writing asking for your donation to help Jamison's chances of having a normal life. Unfortunately, the causes of this disease are a mystery and with 40 children who are diagnosed every day in America it starts to become clear that we must find a cure quickly. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
