This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.
My 4-year old niece, Alexis, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes almost two year ago. Alexis is dependant on insulin to maintain her health, which includes 7+ injections daily. Juvenie diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. The money our JDRF Walk Team raises will go directly to support this life-changing research.
The JDRF Walk is a fantastic way to make a difference in the millions of lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. For at least that one day, they will look around and see all the support they have from their friends, family and community. On Walk Day, everyone can have fun and celebrate how much closer to a cure we are because of their efforts.
