Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
As the sister of someone who has Type 1 diabetes (T1D), it’s difficult to watch her live with this disease. Every day she needs at least 10 finger pricks, and needs an injection every time she puts something in her mouth. Growing up has been hard for her. Even though you couldn’t tell a kid with T1D from a perfectly healthy one by just looking at them, my sister has missed out on countless things the average child can enjoy, because she has T1D.
Type 1 diabetes is a disease with many misconceptions. First of all, T1D is not something you will outgrow. Once diagnosed with T1D, you have it for life. Although insulin is necessary to survive, it is not a cure. Without a cure, my sister will continue to live her life with the constant stress of checking her blood sugar and having insulin injections. Even worse, the threat of passing out or even falling into a coma because of low blood sugar can be a daily fear. This will continue to be a huge part of her life without a cure.
For the third year, our family is walking as Team Lili for the Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday, September 29th, 2013. With the help of our friends and family we are raising money to go towards research to find a cure, better treatments, and prevention. We would love your help in making this dream of a life without diabetes a reality.
PLEASE HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF $10,000!!!!!!
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible today?
Thank you for your support!
