Dear Family and Friends,
I just registered for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes and accepted the challenge to raise money for JDRF. The Walk draws people together in a healthy activity for a worthy cause. At the same time, it raises money to improve the lives of every person affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D.
This year's Walk takes place on September 23, 2012, and I'm writing to ask for your support. Now more than ever, EACH of us can make a real difference in the lives of people with T1D.
Thank you for your support and for helping to transform the lives of people with T1D.
We walk to support Hannah and Jacob's cousin Kimmy, who was diagnosed in 2006 when she was just 3 years old. Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune disease, not a lifestyle issue. Kimmy can't just eat less junk food and get more exercise and cure herself. She didn't do anything to give herself this horrible disease. Her family, us included, are walking to support research so that one day Kimmy won't have to check her blood sugar level 12 times a day, count every carbohydrate that she eats, and worry that her blood will fill up with Ketones when she gets a cold.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
