My story hasn't changed, so I'm leaving it the same from last year, you can read it below. But after this challenging year many of you have witnessed my array of emotions these past few months and I am more determined than ever to help in finding a cure for this horrible disease!
Natty and I are joining Lexi Grahm's family in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes! Our lives have been effected by diabetes longer than I can remember. My maternal grandmother who had diabetes passed away before I was born, I never got to meet her :(, My Paternal Grandma, Grandma Florence, who many of you knew, had diabetes, my mother in law, Barb Dinges, has diabetes and of course my dad, John Ruf. He was diagnosis with Diabetes in his early 30's, I can barely remember going to the hospital to visit him as a little girl and watch him learn to stick a needle in an orange, the daily multiple insulin injections and me learning to prepare his "shot" properly, and the countless hospitalizations that he has endured over the years because his body is able to fight off what most of us can. He is now 74 and still battling the every day effects it has left him. I honestly think if a book was to be written on living with diabetes, dad would be the leading player, he had or has nearly every complication that comes with this STUPID disease.
And now of course, Lexi, one of Natty's BF's has been diagnosis with Juvenal Diabetes. Please help us raise the funds to help Lexi live with and fight thru what has been handed to her.
Thank a bunch
