We are once again involved in the JDRF Walk to Cure Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and I'm asking for your support to help us find a cure for this disease and our son Scott. This year's walk takes place on May 5, 2013, at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville, PA.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by visiting my personal fundraising page and making an online donation. Donating is quick, easy and secure! However, if you would prefer, you can mail your contribution to the address listed below. Make your gift payable to JDRF, and please put my name in the memo field.
A quick example of how our money is being put to good use:
This month Scott is trying out a new device called a Continuous Glucose Monitoring system or CGM (see http://www.diabetespumpcgm.com/dexcom-g4-platinum-cgm/?gclid=CKuGpIjd1bYCFYyY4AodnDcAzA). This small device will give him 24/7 access to his blood sugar levels without using finger sticks/lancets and test strips 5 to 10 times a day! He simply looks down at his CGM and gets a constant readout of exactly what his blood sugar is at any given time, and it tells him if his blood sugar is going up, or coming down which is a huge improvement to the way he manages his insulin injections and overall care of his body. It's not a cure but it's important improvement and step along the way to finding a cure!
Thanks for any help you can give us this year! We really appreciate it!!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
