Hope Wants To Send You Art Work
Guess what?! It's Walk time again. On Saturday May 10, the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is kicking off at the Cheney Stadium in Tacoma again. You know the drill. You donate, you get a piece of artwork from Hope!
Most of you have been long-time supporters of my daughter Hope, in raising funds to prevent, treat and cure Type I Diabetes. Hope is 8.5 this year and an avid soccer player. She is one strong kid. Not just because of the diabetes....she is literally strong. She does push-ups at recess and is the current champion arm wrestler of 3rd grade (self-designated). She plans to be a Sounder when she grows up.
Diabetes does not slow her down, but I must say, we are having a much more difficult time keeping her blood glucose levels under control as she grows older. It's like constantly chasing a butterfly. The pump definitely helps, but advancements in Smart Insulin, encapsulated beta cells, or the artificial pancreas - all research that JDRF is investing in - would make a world of difference for Hope's condition.
So thank you in advance for continuing or starting to donate to JDRF, and/or raising funds for our walk team - Team Hope. My goal again this year is to raise $5000. I either need to have 5 friends with $1000, or 500 friends with $10. Either way works. (-:

Thank you for considering JDRF in your giving this year. Together, we will cure type 1 diabetes and its complications!
