It has been a little over a year since our oldest son, Jackson, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). In just a short time, we have learned a lot about T1D; daily maintenance, treating lows/highs, learning about equipment like insulin pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitors. Most importantly, we have learned how to find a balance between Jackson's active lifestyle and keeping his glucose at a safe level. T1D is now part of our family. It is not always easy, and we all have a lot more to learn about living with T1D, but Jackson has not let it stop him from doing the things he loves. Although, Jackson has adjusted beautifully to living with T1D, it is a great responsibility especially for a teenager. The good news is there have are a lot of advancements on the horizon so life with T1D as Jackson knows it, is only going to get easier.
Our team is walking to help JDRF create a world without type 1 diabetes for the millions of children and adults living with this disease. With T1D, a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. If you have T1D, you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin through a pump, and carefully balance these insulin doses with your eating and activity.
By donating OR joining our JDRF One Walk® team (WICKER WARRIORS) today, you’ll help fund research to improve the lives of everyone challenged by T1D. You can also order a WICKER WARRIORS T-SHIRTby clicking HERE. Proceeds will benefit JDRF. With your support, JDRF will turn Type One into Type None.
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
