Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!

Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!

The question given to us from JDRF is "Who is your #1?"   My 12 year old son, IAN is my number one!!  IAN is the reason I am walking, he is my hero!  Since diagnosis in August he has been on a full-out research mission to help find a cure for Type 1 and JDRF is working to make that happen!  He is my hero because everyday without complaints he pricks his finger up to 10 TIMES PER DAY, takes insulin shots approximatley 5 TIMES PER DAY, reads every label, calculates his ratio and keeps on top of his high and low blood sugar trends...all while keeping up with classwork, homework, tap and family time!  Some days are just harder than others and although he calls me from school with "crazy" high numbers and then "crazy" low numbers causing him to throw up, his attitude remains positive despite the fear I hear in his voice.  He is our family's #1 and we hope you'll consider donating to our Team Ian to hopefully turn Type 1 into Type NONE!

T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.

JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.

Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.

Thank you for your support!
