Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
The reason I am joining is for Colin Lamey, who turned 5 years old in January. On December 26th, Colin was diagnosed with T1D. I am personally involved in Colin's fight because my daughter, Alicia is dating Colin's dad, Fred. Alicia has been involved in Fred and Colin's life for 15 months. Alicia was there when Colin was taken to the hospital and diagnosed. Since then Fred (Colin's dad), Tracy (Colin's mom), Alicia and Colin have been actively getting involved with T1D and have received wonderful support from this organization. Please join me in finding a cure for this disease and exceeding our goal!
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
