On Saturday, May 3rd, we invite you to walk with Team Sweet Pea in the Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is the seventh year our team is participating in the walk. In the past 6 years Team Sweet Pea has raised just under $15,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, (JDRF). We could not have done it without the support of our team members.
Elsie was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes almost 6 years ago at the young age of 19 months. She will be insulin-dependent for the rest of her life. In addition to her rigorous blood testing and insulin shots, everything she consumes must be measured and counted, and her blood levels even need to be checked when she sleeps and plays. And this routine will continue for the rest of her life unless a cure is found.
As you can imagine, this has changed all of our lives. In our continued attempt to encourage and support Elsie, while educating those we know, we have formed Team Sweet Pea in order to do two things; 1) raise money to support the research required to find a cure, and 2) to provide Elsie with support of family and friends who are aware of this devastating disease.
To accomplish our goal of trying to form a very large team to show our support for Elsie, we are actively recruiting anyone who would like to join us on our team and raise money in support of Elsie and the overall Walk to Cure Diabetes.
You can help!
You can join Team Sweet Pea, which consists of family and friends who collect pledges and walk with us. All we request is that you register (www.jdrf.org), collect money from folks you know and then join us for a fun day at The Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley, Illinois.
Make a generous contribution in support of Team Sweet Pea, (cash or check made out to JDRF). You can also make an online donation by visiting www.jdrf.org.
We greatly appreciate your consideration and support. We look forward to having as many people as possible join us on May 3rd at The Niabi Zoo. Even if you can't join us on the walk, we appreciate any and all donations made to Team Sweet Pea as part of our overall fundraising.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please don't hesitate to call or write us. Again, thank you for your generous support of Elsie.
