Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
We will never forget the day that doctors diagnosed our daughter, Lillian, with type 1 diabetes (T1D). That day changed our lives forever. And that’s why we want to help our family and the millions of families like ours by walking in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes on May 3, 2014. Our participation will enable JDRF to fund research that will progressively remove the daily burden, side effects, and complications of T1D until a cure is found.
Lillian was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on April 8, 2013. We had just gotten home from a wonderful family trip to Florida. Lilli had come down with flu like symptoms and was very sick. The ER doctor sent us to Iowa City Children's Hospital immediately. There she spent 2 days in the Pediatric ICU and 2 more days in the Pediatric inpatient unit. There we all learned just how we were gong to live with T1D.
A diagnosis of T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. Currently, there is no cure. Lillian must manage T1D by injecting insulin 4 -5 times a day, every day. But insulin is not a cure, and it does not prevent the possibility of serious complications like kidney failure, blindness, and stroke.
Please support our commitment to creating a world without T1D by visiting my personal fundraising page and making a donation. The online donation form takes just a few minutes to complete, and your gift will help so many people, including our daughter Lilli.
I also want you to know that JDRF will use your donation responsibly. In 2012, Forbes magazine named JDRF one of its five All-Star charities for efficiency and effectiveness.
Thank you for your consideration and support of this cause which is very dear to our heart. Any and all donations made to our fundraising efforts mean so much to us and our family.
