Thanks to all of you who participated in last year's Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes at Six Flags New England in Agawam, MA.
Kevin, Ryan and I are proud to continue to participate in the Walk which is scheduled for Sunday, October 19th.I have lived with type 1 diabetes for the past 15 years and our son Ryan, age 14, was diagnosed at age 10. As you can imagine, having your child diagnosed with a life altering disease is one of the hardest things a parent has to confront. We are grateful, however, that we have had such a great support system through our wonderful family, friends, team of doctors, nurses and our continued relationship with JDRF.
Other members of our family are affected as well. We are privileged to have the opportunity to make a difference for others with this disease by raising money to fund research.
I am writing to ask you to join our team, RYAN'S REBELS this year. If you get just 5 people to join with you and each of you raises $100 that is $600 more that will help fund research to find a cure for diabetes and lessen complications. If you can't join us for the walk, please consider making a donation of any size. Just click on the links below or go to www.jdrf.org and follow the links to join our team and sign up for the walk. You can make a donation under Kevin's, Ryan's or my name.
For the WALK DAY: On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., we'll take an easy 2-mile walk through the theme park before it opens to the public and then, starting at noon, Six Flags is generously offering free park admission to anyone raising $50 or more for JDRF. We'll have a wonderful time together and we'll be making a difference for our son Ryan, and all who continue to face the challenges of diabetes every day.
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
