It is that time of year again where I ask for your generosity to help me raise funds to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). This will be my fourth year as the leader of the walking team, Team Deckers-Hope'in 4 a cure, since we started we have raised over $5300in the past three years. Last year we had about 20 team members make the trek up to Six Flags New England to Walk for a Cure. I would love to have more walkers join us this year not only for the walk but to enjoy an afternoon at the park.
Team Deckers – “Hope’n 4 a Cure” will be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as JDRF tries to reach their new goal of raising $89 million. This year our walk will be held on Sunday, October 19th in Agawam, MA. The walk will begin with a check in at 8:30 and the 3 mile walk will step off at 10:00 am. I'm hoping many of my friends and family will join me either by walking with me that day or by supporting my Team goal of $2000 with a donation. From this website you can either donate directly to my team or become a team member and raise additional funds with your family and friends.
As of right now and with the advances in cure development, I might always need insulin to help me control my T1D but my ultimate goal is always to advocate for a cure so that no other child will ever have to experience this disease ever again. I am only one voice but I know with all your help that we can and will make great strides forward and someday find that cure!
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children like me.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure by funding more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide. This research has led to many new advancements in treatment and has opened some promising paths towards a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
