Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million. I started this team several years ago when it was just my husband, my sisters, their spouses and my parents walking. Over the years I have added 3 children, many nieces and nephews and our team has grown to include many special friends and family members. Please join our team or, if you choose, donate to one of the members of our team. We truly appreciate all of the support and seeing all of your names on this page!
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. I have been living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) since I was 16 years old.....I'll just go ahead and say it, that was 20 years ago!!!! I have seen many advances in the treatment of T1D in those 20 years including more effective short acting insulins, the insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring. All of these changes have made a difference in the way I live and manage my diabetes. 20 years ago I was told that I may never have children. I now have 3 very healthy little boys and have no diabetes-related complications!
Most of you know at least one person living with T1D, and many of whom are young children. T1D never goes away, it must be considered and managed 24 hours a day. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality! Thank you for supporting me and Team Hawkeye as we work for a cure!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
