Welcome to My JDRF Walk Page

Welcome to Team Schroeder!

This is my fifth year participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes and I'm still very excited to participate in this fun and important event!!

I was diagnosed with Type I diabetes in September 2008, shortly before my 26th birthday. Although the organization's name is "Juvenile Diabetes Research FOundation" it is definately not limited to juveniles!!

I am a proud diabetic!  I don't love that I have the disease but I'm not ashamed of it, I don't hide it and I hope to never let it define who I am.  I understand my limitations with diabetes and I continue to live my life to the fullest!!  I am always willing to share my story, my experiences, my struggles and my successes....if you have a question about it just ask!

I NEVER thought I would be impacted directly with any disease so this news caught me completly off guard.  Watch for signs in yourself and your loved ones - increased thrist you can't quench, increased trips to the bathroom, fatigue you can't explain and in my case very blurry vision for no reason.  If you or someone you love experiences these symptons talk to your doctor just to be safe.

I support JRDF in hopes that one day they will find a cure so that no one has to poke their finger all day, inject their tummy with insulin whenever they want to eat, worry about what they eat and how it will impact them or their unborn child, so that my children can run and play every day without ever having to worry about their blood sugar levels.

I never thought I'd be affected by diabetes and you may not either but it can impact anyone at any time, so donate now for a cure tomorrow!

Thanks for all your support

Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children.

There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
