As most of you know, Ashlynn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 18 months old. This is our five year anniversary. We could share with you a bunch of sad facts about this heart wrenching disease, but we don't want to (heck, we don't want to think about them). What we want to do is compel you to join us for the JDRF Walk One in St. Louis.
Imagine having to act as another person's pancreas. Imagine being the balance between food, activities, and insulin. Imagine that you never get to stop. You wake up every night to check on them. This is our life. It can be a hard pill to swallow some days. Other days it is just our normal. Most days we are very successful, other days we fail.
For Ashlynn she is a brave girl who must insert a new pump site needle every three days. She has CGM, with a sensor attached to her that must be changed every seven days. A girl who receives 8-12 finger pricks during the day and night. As she grows up, she is trying to accept that she is different and learning just how dangerous this disease is. She has been robbed of having a care-free life because this disease must always be dealt with.
This disease will never define us. And this disease most certainly will NOT define Ashlynn. So, every year we participate in the JDRF walk. We do this because Ashlynn wants to. She says the walk is her most memorable, most wonderful time, every year. The walk gives Ashlynn the one chance to be in control. Walking is her way of fighting against Diabetes. It is the only way she has to battle this monster.
Please join us and the JDRF in this years walk. We have formed a family walk team named “Ashlynn’s All-Stars” and will raise money towards this cause. This year’s walk will be held on Sunday, October 5th in St. Louis.

Please understand, we are not trying to have a pity party. We truly believe that for every stumbling block we hit in life, something good will come of it. As parents, it is our instinct from the moment our kids are born to protect them from every harm. We must do everything in our power to help find acure for Ashlynn.
Thank you so much for helping our family team raise money for a cure. Together we can make the cure a reality. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
