Hi, I'm Matthew and I'm 13 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 18 months ago. It's really hard to explain how I feel about T1D, but I really don't like it. Going on sleepovers is not easy to do anymore. I hate how low blood sugars and I get really irritable when I am high. I hate infusion site changes. I know my Mom hates doing it, because she says sorry after every change. I really would like to go back to a carefree life that I used to have.
I'm participating in JDRF One Walk™ because I know that my fundraising efforts will help improve the lives of millions of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure – yet. Your support of JDRF can help change that. JDRF is the one organization with the plan, influence, and ability to lessen the burden of this disease until it no longer exists.
By donating today, you can help JDRF fund research that impacts the lives of the millions of children, adults, and families challenged by T1D every single day. With your support, we will create a world without T1D and turn Type One into Type None. Thank you.
