Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
My name is Angela and my Daughter is Kennedi. Kennedi is 12 years old. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes November 18, 2013. I'd like to welcome you to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! On October 25, 2014, Kennedi and I will be taking part, along with our Family and Friends, in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes. We hope you will join us at the walk!
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and young adults suddenly, and can be fatal. It has a lot of daily challenges for a kid, too. For instance, Kennedi has to prick her fingers sometimes over 10 times in a day in order to test her blood glucose levels. And Mom & Dad get up every night at 2am to check her in the night to make sure she doesn't drop too low and the unthinkable happen. She gives herself 5 shots or more a day of insulin so that she can eat the food she needs/wants. She never feels great. Especially when she's high or low. Kennedi has proven to be such a brave and courageous young lady through the past few months of this new disease. And together, we are determined to not let T1D rule our lives but yet lead a normal happy healthy life in spite of it.
There is some hope, though. JDRF is focused on finding a CURE! It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
I am asking for your support by joining Kennedi's team (Team Kennedi) and walking with us on JDRF Walk Day or donate to our personal fundraising efforts! By doing so, you can help Kennedi make a difference in her life and also for millions of other people living with type 1 diabetes.
Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you on October 25th!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
