Creating a world without type 1 diabetes

I'm participating in JDRF One Walk™  to help find a cure for my son Ryan and the millions of other people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. JDRF is the one organization with the plan, influence, and ability to lessen the burden of this disease until it no longer exists.

Ryan is an awesome kid who happens to have type 1 diabetes.  He was diagnosed March 28, 2014 at the age of 9.  After a 5 day stay at Texas Children's hospital and a crash course on all things diabetes, we are now nearly 2 months in and settling in to our new D life.  Ryan's daily routine consists of at least 5 insulin injections, numerous finger pokes, carb counting and being mindful of everything he eats every minute of everyday.  This kid is a warrior!  He is so much stronger and courageous than I could have ever imagined.  We are declaring war on type 1 diabetes!  We will not give up and surrender!  We will find a cure!!

By donating today, you can help JDRF fund research that impacts the lives of the millions of children, adults, and families challenged by T1D every single day. With your support, we will create a world without T1D and turn Type One into Type None. Thank you.
