Welcome to Shirley Noa's Personal Page

Hello! This year, on October 14th, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million. I have had diabetes since the age of four and have struggled with it daily. No child should have to inject themselves daily with insulin. Let's find a cure! Unfortunately, every 20 seconds someone is diagnosed with diabetes? That's 4,320 people in a 24-hour time period! Each year, more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in the U.S. That's 40 children in a 24-hour time period!

This year I'm walking to raise money to find a CURE for a special child who was diagnosed last year! My little cousin as well as, children that already have it or have NOT YET been diagnosed with it. Why? Type 1 Diabetes is NOT PREVENTABLE. Type 1 Diabetes is not reversible. It is rarely hereditary. You don't get it from eating too much candy or drinking too much soda. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. I walk because Insulin is not a CURE, and it's not fair for kids to go through what I went through. This is not even taking into consideration the complications due to the disease. NO CHILD SHOULD BE ON LIFE SUPPORT. If there were only 5 doses left of a cure on earth. I would give them up for a child so they are able to have a "normal" life. THIS IS WHY I WALK JDRF.

Please consider joining me in this very important mission.. please help me help the kids have a "normal" life, and PLEASE SHARE! Every $1 counts!

JDRF Walk and Donation Page

There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. Check this out! Potential 'Cure' for Type 1 Diabetes! Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!

Thank in advance for any donation. I'm looking for 12 people to join me in this walk! C'mon! Let's go!

I will match 10% of all of my donations, in addition to my $100 personal donation, max of $250!

Kind Regards,

Shirley Noa
