Hey friends! I am so excited to announce that this years walk will be held on October 5th at 9AM at the Chicago Lake Front! It's my eighth year participating with my team and I cannot thank you all enough for your continuous support throughout these eight years. Its my final walk before heading to college so we are aiming for the biggest team yet! If you cannot make it to the walk though, you can still donate online! Your help means so much to me and is making such a huge difference in the type 1 diabetes community. Researchers are perfecting so many amazing advancements and the walk plays such a huge role in funding for all this new technology! I hope you will consider being apart of Aubrey's Wings and helping us get that much closer to a cure! Not only will we have team shirts again donated by the wonderful Runners Edge in Wilmette but we also we have a special surprise being handed out at the walk!
Before I end, this summer I was fortunate enough to be a counselor at a type 1 diabetes camp for girls in North Oxford, MA. I've been going to this camp for four years now and it has truly opened my eyes. This year was my first year as staff where I had to help manage young kids diabetes, prick their finger, count their carbs, and help them with the fear that diabetes comes with. I also witnessed an amazing study that was done at this camp called the Bionic Pancreas and many of my younger campers were on this trial and absolutely loved it. It proved to me that these advancements are so much closer than I thought and it also showed me the unbelievable impact on all of the support going towards JDRF.
Remember, every dollar counts and every step matters.
