Congratulations on taking the first step of the Walk to Cure Type I Diabetes. On Sunday October 6th at 8:30 am on Chicago's beautiful Lakefront (Lawrence Ave and Simonds Drive), we're walking together as Josefina's Jamboree to support Josefina and her lifelong challenge of living almost her whole little life with Type I Diabetes. We're taking steps to help JDRF progressively remove the impact of type 1 diabetes (T1D) from people's lives until no one has to fear developing this disease. By joining our team, Josefina's Jamboree, and making a donation to JDRF, you'll raise money to help fund critical T1D research and create a world without T1D.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
The challenge we've set ourselves - to raise money for JDRF and to walk - is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.....just ask Josefina about a day in her life.
You've made it this far so, please accept the challenge to make a difference by donating and walking with us? Just click on the "Join this Team" button, register to walk, make a donation, and start fundraising. If you decide to walk with us, PLEASE REGISTER ON THIS PAGE so that we can keep you updated on important Walk Day information. The more walkers that officially register, the better chance we have at being assigned an official table. We will be sending specific walk day information to registered walkers.
Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you on Walk day wearing as much PURPLE as possible!
We are "Josefina's Jamboree" and we're "Kick'n Ketones, 1 Step at a Time!"
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
