Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
It's that time of year again where I share my story with you - a story that I live with each and every day: life with Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure. I was diagnosed at age 2 and will be 10 this August.
While I don't like diabetes - I do LOVE going to camp each summer - why you ask? Because when I'm at camp, I'm normal - all the kids are doing the same thing. We all prick fingers, take insulin, count carbs, get woken up in the middle of the night to be checked - and have FUN together!!!
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Thank you for supporting me and my team - I appreciate your donations and your support you give me each day I live with T1D.
