Welcome to my personal JDRF Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes fundraising page! This year, I'll be taking part in the 32nd Annual Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes, along with one-half million other JDRF walkers and runner across the country, as we try to reach our nationwide goal of raising $94 million.
This is my 8th year coordinating team Free Sisyphus. Why such a crazy name? Well, mostly because team "Sam-I-Am" was already taken. :-) Also, because we have a lot in common with Sisyphus, a man from Greek mythology. Sisyphus was cursed to push a boulder up a mountain, then let it roll back down, push it back up again, let roll down again, and so on..... for eternity. In modern day, T1D management is our boulder. Our diabetes family is Sisyphus. Each day is a lot of again-and-again, and we can never take a break. At best, all we can achieve is normalcy. Organizations like JDRF can help, and that's why we take part in this event. Please help us break this never-ending cycle and help JDRF make diabetes history!
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with T1D.
Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
