Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the 32nd Annual JDRF Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes event coming up on May 18th! This is the 6th year Team Zanman will be participating in this event, a great cause to raise money for research to find a cure for Diabetes. Over the first five years of our involvement with the Beat the Bridge Walk we have had several walkers join our team consisting of family and friends to help us raise money and awareness. Together we've already raised almost $15k so far!! This year we hope to raise our 6 year team total to $17k. With our friends and family's support and generous supporters like you we will reach this goal. My personal goal this year is to raise $2,000, I can't do it without you.
As many of you know, my son Zander was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 5 years ago at the age of 8. This disease is something that he will have to endure the rest of his life if we don't raise money to find a cure for this devastating disease. On a daily basis he will endure over 5 insulin shots a day with several finger pokes to check his blood sugars. Its not only a painful process but inconvenient and time consuming. Its heartbreaking to see a young child have to endure this every day, even more so when its one of your own.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on T1D research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. The goal of JDRF is to improve the lives of every person affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures go directly to T1D research.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with T1D. Your generous donation will help find a cure so that kids like my son Zander get a cure for this disease in his lifetime. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
