Supporting this cause started with my involvement in Alpha Gamma Delta when I was initiated in 2007 at Michigan Tech. As a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, this philanthropy gave me a larger purpose and allowed me to make a difference in my community. As a collegian I helped support local students by raising funds for them to purchase the equipment they needed to manage their T1D. It was heart-warming to know that I was able to give my time and effort to help someone else. Many small parts really do make a large impact. And now as an AGD alumnae I'm proud to continue supporting this organization.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.
JDRF is the leading global organization focused on T1D research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. The goal of JDRF is to improve the lives of every person affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures go directly to T1D research.
I am asking for your support. If every one of my friends gave just $5 (nearly the cost of a good latte these days), I would be well over my goal. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help make a difference for millions of people living with T1D.
Thank you for your support!
