I'm participating in Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes!

    Our First Walk 2009
    Our First Walk 2009

Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the 31st Annual Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes! This year, we'll be participating in this incredible event in our community, along with thousands of others, to raise $1.5 million in support of JDRF and to improve the lives of all people, like Zander, affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away.

It's so hard to believe that it's been over 5 years since Zander was diagnosed, but we've been so blessed through the years with wonderful friends and family who've supported us with their time, money and friendship. This walk means so much to our family, we thank each and every person that has helped along the way.

Zander has grown so much, learning better, more healthy ways to take care of himself.  He asks a lot of questions trying to understand his disease, he's such a smart kid.  In spite of all the finger poking and shot taking, he's your typical teenage boy.

As a family, it's our goal to find healthy yet yummy foods.  We are always trying out new things, talking about why we try so hard to feed Zander as good as we do so that he will learn to take good care of his body.  We want him to live a very long, healthy life.  We try to teach him that he can enjoy his food, that even though something is healthy it can also be good.  Which is hard to teach a child, they want the yummy, gooey, sugary stuff.  But there's always room for treats, and that's what we try to teach him.  As long as you take care of your self, eating healthy and being active, then you can "treat" yourself to those things.  :) This life style has helped our entire family be more healthy!

Over the last 5 years we've raised nearly $15,000!  There's no way we could have done that without all the loving support from our friends and family, we appreciate you all so very much!!!!!

So now I ask for your support, please help me and team Zanman by making a donation to my personal fundraising efforts.   By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people, like Zander,  living with type 1 diabetes.

    Did you know that:

    • T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
    • T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
    • Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
    • Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers with blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat, and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?

    Thank you for your support!
