Please Help Sponsor Me in Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes!

Welcome to my personal fundraising page for the 31st Annual Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes! This year, I'll be participating in this incredible event in my community, along with thousands of others, to raise $1.5 million in support of JDRF and to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away.

My story is a personal one. My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 10 years ago, which at the time was very difficult news for our family to receive especially since there has never been anyone in our family history who has had diabetes before. Each year, rain or shine, our family tries to join my daughter and her husband's family in the 4 mile walk around the University of Washington Campus in support of my daughter as well as helping to raise money for JDRF so they can do all they can to help find a cure for the awful disease.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas.  While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.

I am asking for your support.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

    Did you know that:

    • T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
    • T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
    • Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
    • Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers with blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat, and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Your donation will be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you for your support!
