I'm participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes because I know that my fundraising efforts will help improve the lives of millions of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure – yet. Your support of JDRF can help change that. JDRF is the one organization with the plan, influence, and ability to lessen the burden of this disease until it no longer exists.
I am participating because my son, Carter, was diagnosed on 12-3-12 at the age of 2. This disease not only affects him but our family as a whole. We have had to change many aspects of our lives. We can not longer just ask anyone to babysit, because they have to be able to provide the care for Carter, that he needs. We have to stop what we are doing many times a day to check Carters blood sugar. Carter is on tuff little boy but, wouldn't it be wonderful for him, and others living with T1D, if they never had to stop playing with friends to check their blood sugar. This is the reason I am asking you to join our efforts, or donate.
By donating today, you can help JDRF fund research that impacts the lives of the millions of children, adults, and families challenged by T1D every single day. With your support, we will create a world without T1D and turn Type One into Type None. Thank you.
