MY STORY: It's short and (not so) sweet. I was diagnosed almost 10 years ago at 18 years old. I'm a good sport about it most of the time, but diabetes sucks. I can't do anything without thinking about how it will effect my blood glucose levels.
Taking care of myself is always important, but more-so now, as I have this awesome, totally cute new husband, and we want to have awesome, totally cute little Mayo kids.
There are some FANTASTIC new developments in the management of type 1 diabetes. And every dollar helps reach those goals. Please please consider donating if you can. I hope you can walk with me on Saturday, September 27th!
About type 1: Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
Please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people (including your favorite yours truly) affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause. Every single cent helps.
