I am a mother to Type 1 Diabetic child. Wesley was diagnosed November 3rd 2013 at 18 months old.
On November 2nd, he was very sick. Wesley was vomiting, dehydrated, and could barely move. He was fist taken to a local hospital but due to Wesley's condition they could not treat him. A few hours later, a ambulance from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital came to transport him to their hospital in Nashville, TN. Wesley's blood sugar was 956!
So, here we are today! We are now apart the Type 1 Diabetes family.
I'm participating in JDRF One Walk™ because I know that my fundraising efforts will help improve the lives of millions of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to turning food into energy. It strikes both children and adults and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure – yet. Your support of JDRF can help change that. JDRF is the one organization with the plan, influence, and ability to lessen the burden of this disease until it no longer exists.
By donating today, you can help JDRF fund research that impacts the lives of the millions of children, adults, and families challenged by T1D every single day. With your support, we will create a world without T1D and turn Type One into Type None. Thank you.
