Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
I have been personally affected by this disease. When I was 23 years old I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I was in and out of the hospital for at least 9 months. I spent 2 months at the Mayo clinic in Rochester. The first month was filled with testing to try and figure out why I was having so many complications. The second month I was at a pain clinic, learning about techniques to help me live with my disease and pain. After going from, feeling my life was ending, to feeling alive again, I knew I needed to help and inspire others that have gone through what I did. This life changing experience is the main reason why I want to be a part of this walk and to find a cure for this disease.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
