Dear Friends and Family,

As most of you know, I have been a surviver of type one diabetes since I was two years old. Type one diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes my pancreas to no longer produce any insulin. We do not know what caused this disease, but I will have it for life.  I have to check my blood sugars at least 8-10 times a day as well as take shots via insulin pen throughout the day.  Though the insulin keeps me alive, it is not a cure.  I will always have the risks of complications. That is why I've been a Junior Ambassador for JDRF since diagnosis.

A couple of parents started this charity in 1970 because they wanted to find a cure for their children. JDRF has since funded over $1.5 billion in research dollars.  More than 85% of all revenue goes to funding.  Hopefully, soon, the FDA will approve an all in one device that Europeans and Canadians have approved.  It will allow my blood sugar meter and insulin pump to work together. It is amazing to see advancements since my diagnosis.

That is why this year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes.  My team name is Jonny's Angels  and we are hoping to raise over $5,000.

We are so excited about this year's JDRF walk on Saturday, April 12th.  It is a time to celebrate all the hard work JDRF has put into finding me and others like me a cure!  We love to have a great time and enjoy the day.  I am proud to be this year's Champion Ambassador.  I am honored to represent all the type one diabetics at this year's walk and am grateful for my friends and families support.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Jonathan (Jonny)
