Team Steven Type 1

It has been over 4 years now since my son Steven was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and became insulin dependent for the rest of his life! Although we've learned a lot on how to best help Steven lead as normal a life as possible, there are always struggles and obstacles on a daily basis that make it difficult for Steven to just enjoy being a kid! When first diagnosed Steven was required to receive 4 to 10 shots a day and the simplest acts of having a snack or going out to eat at an establishment that doesn't provide nutritional information made it frustrating and disheartening for him to just enjoy being a child! With the help of donations from people just like you, research and funding has made it possible for Steven to use the Omnipod which eliminates all those shots on his tiny little body and instead he has one injection site once every three days! There are still frustrations of restaurants and grocery stores not being required to provide nutritional information on their products! With donations raised from events such as the Walk To Cure Diabetes, organizations such as the JDRF can work to have laws passed to protect my son and the millions of others who live with this life long disease! Your kindness and support puts us that much closer to making a better way of living for Steven, with the possibilities of the artificial pancreas and laws being enacted to help give Steven and others with diabetes the rights and protection they need and deserve! Thank You for listening to our story and your kind thoughts and generous donations! Every donation, no matter how much, makes all the difference in the world! Thank You and God Bless!
