Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
Hello Everyone From Emily:
For everyone that does not know I was diagnosed with T1D this past November. It was the day after Thanksgiving to be exact. I was having a lot of different things going on with my body that Mommy and Daddy didn't think was right. Like I was very thirsty all the time, I lost 10lbs in just 1 month, but all I wanted to do was eat! I was also very tired and the thing that really did it was my vision was getting really bad. So I went to see Dr Sipple and he took some blood and ran some test and it came back that it was T1D. My family and I were very sad, scared and very nervous. Dr Sipple then sent us to a diabetes educator who then said Emily needed help right away and sent us to the ER where we stayed over night and half the next day getting the help that I needed. I was released and told to be at Children's Hospital of Milwaukee on Monday morning for classes. We learned a lot that day and over the next couple months we had like 3 more classes. Which now brings us to present day. We pretty much have it under control, but we are still learning. Well thank you for stopping by my page. Please read the info after this to learn a little about T1D.
I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
