Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!
Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!
Almost two years ago, Rob and I almost lost our little boy. We knew he was sick, but had no idea why. His pediatritian missed his diabetes, even though we were in his office two times the weekend of his diagnosis. On Monday evening, we took Luke to the ER. Immediately, the ER doctor knew it was diabetes.
Every day is a struggle to keep his glucose levels even. There are no off days. Every day, every meal, Rob and I must count his carbs, check his sugar, and give him shots. He's only 4. Can you imagine getting 4 shots a day when you were 4?
So this year, We're joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve Luke's and the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.
T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.
JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.
Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.
