I am participating in the JDRF to bring better awareness to type one diabetes. This is a disease that can stike at any time and hit you unawares. My son was diagnosed at 13 and it changed everything in our lifestyle. We were blessed with a wonderful support system through Lebonher Hospital and wonderful doctors. I was unaware at the vast amount of families affected by this disease until it struck our family. My son is a healthy 21 now and has taken his diabetes in hand and I'm very proud how proactive he is with his care, but I also know there are families out there that need support and being involved with the JDRF is a good way to help those families. I know if a cure is found it will not cure my son but if it can help another person to keep from getting this disease it is worth it. I implore people to get involved with this because this is a disease that you never know when it might strike you or your family unaware.
