Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!

Hi, Everyone! Claire here, welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! First, thank you for opening this link and taking interest in my team for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes!

Let me start by explaining why I'm doing this. As some of you may know, my younger sister, Kristen, has type 1 diabetes. Kristen was diagnosed with T1D 6 years ago, but despite living with this disease, she is a spunky, smart, beautiful, talented, fun-loving, and kind 16 year old. Kristen has a big heart and an even bigger smile that can light up any room. "Pizz" (as I call her) is not only my sister, but also my best friend, my shopping buddy, my partner in crime, my fellow lover of gelato, and most importantly, she is my hero. Seeing my sister fight this horrible disease every single day, and still keep a smile on her face is the reason I am determined to help JDRF find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

So, I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money my team and I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.

Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.

JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.

If you would like to contribute to finding a cure for not only my sister, but the millions of other siblings, children, parents, and friends living with this disease, please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Give what you can! I'm not asking for millions of dollars; every single dollar goes a long way! Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease, my sister, Kristen, being one of them.

Thank you for reading this and helping us find a cure! On behalf of my team, my family, my sister and myself, THANK YOU for your support!
