Walk Day FAQs
Question: I'm a Walker ... what time should I arrive?
Answer: At Silver Lake Park in Dover, JDRF Walk Registration opens at 10am – you will see a large tent marked with a “Check-In” sign. The Walk will kick-off at 11am.
Question: Can I register on Walk day?
Answer: Registration for the Walk will be available the morning of the event. It is FREE to register for the Walk.
Question: Where can I park at the Silver Lake Park Walk in Dover?
Answer: Parking is available anywhere in Silver Lake Park and the surrounding area and streets.
Question: What's the address for the Walk?
Answer: The Silver Lake Park Walk is Washington Street, Dover, DE 19901.
Question: Can I turn-in money that I have raised for JDRF on Walk Day?
Answer: Yes! JDRF Delaware will have volunteers ready and waiting to collect any donations that you would like to turn-in on Walk Day! Make sure when you fill out your Walker Collection Envelope, you fill in the Walk Team Name and Walker whom you would like the donation to go to under Walker First Name and Walker Last Name. Credit Cards are being taken this year as acceptable forms of payment for donations! Please ask a registration volunteer for more information on Walk Day.
Question: How do I earn an official JDRF One Walk T-Shirt?
Answer: Each WALKER who has raised $100 or more by Walk day will receive a T-Shirt. JDRF will have lists of the dollars raised up to the day before the event, and will add those totals to any donations that are turned in that day at registration to determine if the Walker will receive a shirt. PLEASE VISIT CHECK-IN TO RECEIVE YOUR SHIRT.
Please remember that only Walkers that have raised $100 or more will receive a shirt – team donations do not count.
Question: What can I expect on event day?
Answer: Expect a day of family fun and most importantly of everyone coming together to show their support of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. This is your day to celebrate your hard work in raising money to find a cure!
Question: What do I wear?
Answer: The Walk is outdoors. Dress casually with comfortable shoes to complete the 1.5 or 3 mile distance of the Walk. Make sure to check weather reports on the day of your Walk to dress appropriately. Our entertainment and activities take place on a grassy area and the Walk route is on pavement. Diabetes doesn’t stop, nor do we! We walk rain or shine!
Question: What if I collect donations after the Walk?
Answer: That's great! Fundraising for the Walk takes place all the way until June 30, 2017. If you collect donations post-Walk, mail them to:

Question: Where do I turn in my Team T-Shirt to be entered into the contest?
Answer: You may give your Team T-Shirt to the registration volunteers. Remember the JDRF logo MUST be somewhere on the T-Shirt in order to qualify.
Please note: You will not get the T-Shirt back – we use Team T-Shirts as examples in future year!
Question: How can I earn fabulous JDRF incentives for the money that I raised for JDRF?
Answer: Donations that are turned into the JDRF Delaware office by December 31, 2017 will be eligible for prizes. If you are eligible, a prize code will be e-mailed to your information on file.
If you do not want to receive a prize catalog you may opt out. You can do so while registering online or under your registration information in your Participant Center.
Question: How long is the route?
Answer: The walk route is approximately 1.5 miles. Many walkers will do it twice for a total of 3 miles.
Question: Will there be food at the Walk?
Answer: All complimentary refreshments are 100% donated to JDRF, and families should bring their own diabetic supplies and snacks. Many teams will bring breakfast and/or lunch. There will be other food for sale available from local vendors.
