Dear Family, Friends, Cook School Students, Patrons, and Vendors,
Welcome to our JDRF One Walk to Cure Diabetes Team Page! April 22, 2017
Our daughter, Kate was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2001. Each year since 2002, we have written letters, asked everyone for donations, and collected funds for the walk to help research. We also have put on several benefit events. Too, $5.00 from every cookbook sold goes to JDRF. What is remarkable, are the changes that have been made in the management of this horrible disease. We have you to thank for all of the progress that has been made. Surely, you are changing the world. We raise funds not only for Kate, but several family members, friends and donors, who now have grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and friends who suffer with this autoimmune disease.
Please unite with us, and donate to JDRF One Walk through our "renegade" Team Euphemia Haye!
TEAM EUPHEMIA HAYE WALK DETAILS:
Where & When: We walk on Longboat Key on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Due to our schedule and location, this is a separate event from the Lakewood Ranch walk. Our "renegade walk" is in the beautiful Joan Durante Park located right next door to Euphemia Haye. We meet at the restaurant at 8:15 a.m. to finish registering for the One walk and to turn in donations. (It is best if you can replace any cash donations with your own check, also you can pre register to walk online.) You will receive a t-shirt and we welcome those of you who have collected more than $100, to have a light breakfast prepared by Chef Ray. We will have a talk given by a member of the JDRF executive board, who will give us the most updated status of research, and answer any questions about the disease, and your donations.
We also will hear from one or two of the children who will talk about "a day in the life of" and what the research means for them. We will gather for a group photo, "cut the ribbon" and take off on our walk. It is not a race (bring your camera, bring your binoculars if you want to bird watch). The beauty of the park and the camaraderie of the walkers is really something to enjoy. We really hope that you will chat with other walkers, and reflect on the importance of your participation in this event. We are so grateful for the positive aspects of your efforts, and how far the researchers have come. If you come up with fund raising ideas for us please let us know!
To make a donation, click on the "DONATE" button on the top of this page or send a check to the restaurant (5540 Gulf of Mexico Dr, Longboat Key FL 34228) made out to JDRF, and put Team Euphemia Haye on the memo line. Please help Ray and I to meet our goal and turn Type 1 into Type NONE! Last year (2015) our team raised more than $14,000 for JDRF!!! This year we are aiming for $20,000.
To join Team Euphemia Haye, AND register to walk with us. click on "JOIN THIS TEAM". See the nifty online ways to contact family, friends and business associates to collect funds. If you have any questions please give a call to me, D'Arcy. Call during the day between 10:00- 4:30. 941. 383-3633. We request that anyone who plans to walk joins the actual Euphemia Haye walk team and will work to collect a minimum of $100+, each. We are looking forward to growing our walk team this year!
Your donation will count towards the team's fundraising total. In addition, please give credit to the person that asked for your support to recognize them for their efforts in creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).
